  • I am so glad you are enjoying the books so much. Goldenhead is magical isn’t it?

It is lovely to hear that you feel more at peace already!

  • Not sure I can help here. Have never gotten on with English language social media – I get the impression that they “splurge” – meaning that whoever you choose to follow you get overspill from their circle and their circle’s circle so that you are getting exposed to unfortunate things.

Anyway I find West Telluri a bit impenetrable. I tried…[Read more]

  • As someone who has very limited personal experience of modern West Telluria, I am probably unqualified to contribute here. I am not at all sure what MWTs might mean when they say “good”. Most of what I have seen on the Internet seems to carry the message “bad is good and good is bad” (or at least weak and contemptible).

    Presumably there are…[Read more]

  • I think that is a very good perception. Yes the Western Elements tend to be conceived as more noun-like especially in that each one exists independently of the others (at least in principle, though all earthly things are mixed of course). The Eastern Elements are really only conceived in active relationship with each other so as you say, in a…[Read more]

  • Rayati and welcome to Shining World, honored Miss Amy.

We are very happy to have you here with us. Please feel free to tell us a little more about yourself and your interests and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

You say you are an OG Aristasian – but I am sure you still sing! (small Takarazuka joke).

I hope you have a…[Read more]

PS – by “willful” I suppose what I really mean is “deliberately perverse”. Which is not really a comment on any individual writer – it is more something that seems to be built into West Tellurian culture at this stage.

  • Yes they really are rather different systems. In West Telluria the four elements plus the Quintessence (fifth essence or element) have a somewhat hierarchical relationship, and the Aethyr or Quintessence is fundamentally different from the others. The elements are not physical, though they have physical reflections – ie material water reflects…[Read more]

    O ki no doku sama.

I am never sure if it is really free verse or just very cheap. Sorry, that was a slightly naughty joke, but I do know what you mean. There seems something a little willful about it somehow doesn’t there?

I always find it odd that pseudo-“haiku” are popular among some modern West Telluri. Haiku just doesn’t work in English…[Read more]

  • Hmm. I would say that it is always wrong to be deviant. If society itself is deviant, of course, then conforming to it is only another form of deviancy.

And conversely, most of what passes for “deviancy” in West Telluria is really only taking the deviancy of society to its own logical extremes – in other words this “deviancy” is in fact…[Read more]

The highest intuition is direct knowledge of the Reality that lies behind the material world (what Plato speaks of in the image of “leaving the cave” and Buddhists refer to as satori).

At lower levels intuition does have some distant relation to its highest manifestation. Its connection with Harmony, I think, may be that Harmony is fundamental to…[Read more]

  • My breath is quite taken away. That is startlingly wonderful!

My most heartfelt congratulations on a magnificent style beautifully realized.

  • This used to bother me at one time. These days I feel happy with being a “raven-blonde”!

  • Yes, Miss Darling, I agree with all you say. Of course herbivores are also prey so the overall “system” is predatory, and nor are humans in a position to “reform” it. A pack of wolves or a spider are never going to become “kind”. On the other hand neither are they going to resort to the unnecessary and calculated cruelty often practised by…[Read more]

  • I don’t think innocence as we use it means innocence in the “innocent or guilty” sense. We as a community don’t have “rules” about what one can or can’t do – essentially because we don’t have a tradition, a social order or a “Church”. It isn’t that we are against any of those things, just that we aren’t in a position to have them. It is a serious…[Read more]

  • Hmm. Well I don’t know much at all about physical desirey-things, and what I understand by innocence is something hard to put into words, though it is clearly opposed to the cynical culture of current West Telluria.

I think rather than words I would cite this face-merge kinematic (which I think was posted here a long while back). I would say that…[Read more]

  • I know very little of makeovers, having neither had one nor even seen one, but I understand the idea.

It seems to me that creating beauty is always a reflection of the true Beauty, and creating it (or having it be created – how awkward that there is no causative form in Enlish) in one’s own outer appearance is particularly wonderful and a gift to…[Read more]

  • Just to supplement Rill-san’s comment (she is much more learned than I and probably takes this as too obvious to mention) –

The Janyatic Principles cannot in themselves be corrupt, only their “application” on the level of manifestation can become so.

A common metaphor for this is the moon reflected in water. The water (representing…[Read more]

  • Yes, this is pretty much how it tends to work at all levels, at least as far as I know. In some places the princess or queen or local duchess or hereditary mayor or someone is in theory the decision-maker, but her job is really to be the voice of the people – or more correctly, the voice of group harmony.

Just as you say – consensus, not majority…[Read more]

  • I think silly ideas about hypnosis started fairly early on in its history, probably very much popularized by the character of Svengali in du Maurier’s Trilby.

We do not really make any claim that “waftings” are or are not “memories of past lives”. I think reality is bigger and more mysterious than that and we can’t really nail it down to this or…[Read more]
